Luke 12: 31But put God's work first, and these things will be yours as well. 32My little group of disciples, don't be afraid! Your Father wants to give you the kingdom. 33... Make sure your treasure is safe in heaven, where thieves cannot steal it . . . 34Your heart will always be where your treasure is. (CEV)
John 6: 27"Don't work for food that spoils. Work for food that gives eternal life. The Son of Man will give you this food, because God the Father has given him the right to do so." 28"What exactly does God want us to do?" the people asked. 29Jesus answered, "God wants you to have faith in the one he sent." (CEV)
Luke 9: 1 Jesus called together his twelve apostles and gave them complete power over all demons and diseases. 2Then he sent them to tell about God's kingdom and to heal the sick . . . 4When you are welcomed into a home, stay there until you leave that town. 5If people won't welcome you, leave the town and shake the dust from your feet as a warning to them." 6The apostles left and went from village to village, telling the good news and healing people everywhere. (CEV)
Matthew 9: 36When he saw the crowds, he felt sorry for them. They were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37He said to his disciples, "A large crop is in the fields, but there are only a few workers. 38Ask the Lord in charge of the harvest to send out workers to bring it in." (CEV)
John 4: 35You may say that there are still four months until harvest time. But I tell you to look, and you will see that the fields are ripe and ready to harvest. 36Even now the harvest workers are receiving their reward by gathering a harvest that brings eternal life. Then everyone who planted the seed and everyone who harvests the crop will celebrate together. 37... "Some plant the seed, and others harvest the crop." 38I am sending you to harvest crops in fields where others have done all the hard work.
Hebrews 10: 24We should keep on encouraging each other to be thoughtful and to do helpful things. 25Some people have gotten out of the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that . . . keep on encouraging each other, especially since you know that the day of the LORD'S coming is getting closer. (CEV)
Hebrews 12: 1Such a large crowd of witnesses is all around us! So we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially the sin that just won't let go. And we must be determined to run the race that is ahead of us. 2We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete . . . 3So keep your mind on Jesus . . . Then you won't get discouraged and give up. (CEV)
1. Why does God expect us to show our faith by following the example
of Jesus and His disciples?
2. What did the disciples of Jesus do when they went into a town to
tell people the Good News?
3. How can we keep on encouraging each other so that we keep our hearts
and minds on what is best?
4. When we are faithful in our meeting together in little groups, how
does this affect others?
5. Tell how faith in and loyalty to Jesus and His message has brought
blessings into your life.

Philippians 4: 6Don't worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. (CEV)
Faith in truth leads to great discoveries . . . The great people of
faith described in the Bible considered this life on earth to be a training
ground for a greater life with God. They knew that God's existence and
invisible nature can be plainly seen and understood from what has been
made. God created our world as a school to train us (and also test us)
for eternal life. These believers were not lazy, gullible, and unproductive
here on earth. In fact, they believed and loved God. He rewarded them with
maturity, perseverance, and strength.
Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and certain
of what we do not see. It is based on reasonable evidence, and the plainest
evidence of all is the simple record we have of the life of Christ. By
faith we also understand that God designed and created the universe. We
know by faith that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek
Him. (Rom 1:18-20 and Heb 11:1-6)
Jesus expects us to exercise our faith. He criticized
His Disciples because they had little faith. They had such a hard time
believing that God would do for them the same things He did for Jesus.
Today we Christians have the benefit of what Jesus did and said, and we
also see God working in the world of nature, science, industry, and society.
(Mt
14:25-33 and 17:18-21)
We can learn to enter in at the narrow gate and
walk the narrow road, the Christ Way to highly effective ministries. Like
the Disciples with their little faith, we often spend most of our time
on unimportant things . . . God gives us a lot of time, and we can choose
to use much more of it for Jesus.
Grass-roots Christians can bring life to dynamic,
living churches. The grass-roots movement that Jesus started with His Twelve
Disciples and Paul lives today. His kingdom continues to grow silently
and powerfully like the Growing Seed and Mustard Seed Parables teach. (Mk
4:26-32)
