Colossians 1: 27... the mystery is that Christ lives in you, and he is your hope of sharing in God's glory....
2: 2... Not only is he the key to God's mystery, 3but all wisdom and knowledge are hidden away in him. (CEV)

Romans 8: 22We know that all creation is still groaning and is in pain, like a woman about to give birth. 23... we wait for God to show that we are his children. This means that our bodies will also be set free. 24And this hope is what saves us. But if we already have what we hope for, there is no need to keep on hoping. 25However, we hope for something we have not yet seen, and we patiently wait for it. (CEV)

Romans 15: 4And the Scriptures were written to teach and encourage us by giving us hope. (CEV)

Hebrews 11: 1Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see. 2It was their faith that made our ancestors pleasing to God. (CEV)

Ephesians 1: 18My prayer is that light will flood your hearts and that you will understand the hope that was given to you when God chose you. Then you will discover the glorious blessings that will be yours... (CEV)

1 Timothy 4: 10We have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of everyone, but especially of those who have faith. That's why we work and struggle so hard. (CEV)

Titus 2: 13We are filled with hope, as we wait for the glorious return of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. (CEV)

Hebrews 6: 18... Now his promises should greatly encourage us to take hold of the hope that is right in front of us. 19This hope is like a firm and steady anchor for our souls. (CEV)

1 Peter 1: 3... God is so good, and by raising Jesus from death, he has given us new life and a hope that lives on. 13... Put all your hope in how kind God will be to you when Jesus Christ appears. (CEV)

1 Peter 3: 15Honor Christ and let him be the Lord of your life. Always be ready to give an answer when someone asks you about your hope.

2. What floods our hearts and helps us understand the hope that God has chosen us to receive and share?
3. How does endurance build character, and why is that so important for those who are leaders?

What Did Jesus Teach About Hope?
In His most famous prayer, Jesus asked for God's Kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Then He told His followers to desire and seek God's kingdom and righteousness above all else. We can stop worrying about food, drink, and clothing because God knows that we need them. If we give top priority to what really matters, then God will provide everything else that we need as a matter of course. We must listen to Jesus and put our hope in Him. He has the words of life. As human beings we fear death more than anything else. Naturally we hope to live forever.
People asked Jesus, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus told people,"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind" and "Love your neighbor as yourself." Jesus gives us the only hope that fulfills our deepest longings.
He also tells us to bring this wonderful hope of eternal life to all people on the earth. God doesn't want a single little one to be lost. The hope that Jesus brought into the world gives meaning to all life and all nature. In order to give hope to all without prejudice we must be sensitive to where people are coming from. We can center our priorities on the word of God. God works in this world in marvelous ways pouring out His blessings on all people. If we center our hearts on minds on His promises and His presence, our hope will never let us down. We can learn from adversity and from incidental failures. We can treat all the events around us as sources of parables like Jesus did. God works constantly in His world to give us hope for the future.
