John 3: ²⁹At a wedding the groom is the one who gets married. The best man is glad just to be there and to hear the groom's voice. That's why I am so glad. (CEV)

Isaiah 55: ⁶Turn to the LORD! He can still be found. Call out to God! He is near. ⁷Give up your crooked ways and your evil thoughts. Return to the LORD our God. He will be merciful ....
.... ¹²When you are set free, you will celebrate and travel home in peace. Mountains and hills will sing as you pass by, and trees will clap.¹³Cypress and myrtle trees will grow infields once covered by thorns. And then those trees will stand as a lasting witness to the glory of the LORD.(CEV)

2 Corinthians 4: ¹⁶We never give up. Our bodies are gradually dying, but we ourselves are being made stronger each day. ¹⁷These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles seem like nothing. ¹⁸Things that are seen don't last forever, but things that are not seen are eternal. That's why we keep our minds on the things that cannot be seen. (CEV)

2 Corinthians 5: ¹Our bodies are like tents .... But when these tents are destroyed, we know that God will give each of us a place to live. These homes .... are in heaven and will last forever...
    .... ⁶So always be cheerful! As long as we are in these bodies, we are away from the LORD. ⁷But we live by faith, not by what we see. ⁸We should be cheerful, because we would rather leave these bodies and be at home with the LORD. (CEV)

Colossians 3: ¹ You have been raised to life with Christ. Now set your heart on what is in heaven, where Christ rules at God's right side. ²Think about what is up there, not about what is here on earth. ³You died, which means that your life is hidden with Christ, who sits beside God. ⁴Christ gives meaning to your life, and when he appears, you will also appear with him in glory..(CEV)

Matthew 11: ²⁹Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest. ³⁰This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light." (CEV)

1. How does thinking about Heaven help us to overcome sorrow and be full of joy on this earth?
2. How does Jesus help us share both sorrow and joy when we meet together?
3. Why does God expect us to work at loving each other rather than just serving ourselves?
4. When we work hard to gain physical pleasure, wealth, and fame, how may we be unwise?
5. Describe how talking about the story of Jesus encourages you to be filled with joy?
