1 Thessalonians 5: 18Whatever happens, keep thanking
God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do.
1. What makes gratitude and thanksgiving so important and pleasing
to God?
Jeremiah 29: 11I will bless you with a future filled
with hope - a future of success, not of suffering. (CEV)
Psalms 103: 2.... I will never forget how kind he
has been.3The LORD forgives our sins, heals us when we are sick,
4and protects us from death. His kindness and love are a crown
on our heads.
5.... he provides for our needs and gives us the
strength of a young eagle..... 8The LORD is merciful! He is
kind and patient, and his love never fails. 9The LORD won't
always be angry and point out our sins; 10he doesn't punish
us as our sins deserve. (CEV)
2. How has God blessed you, and how do the above verses apply
to your life?
1 Peter 1: 4God has something stored up for you in
heaven, where it will never decay or be ruined or disappear. 5You
have faith in God, whose power will protect you until the last day. (CEV)
2 Corinthians 5: 1Our bodies are like tents that
we live in here on earth. But when these tents are destroyed, we know that
God will give each of us a place to live. These homes will not be buildings
that someone has made, but they are in heaven and will last forever....
6So always be cheerful! As long as we are in these bodies, we
are away from the Lord.... 8We should be cheerful, because we
would rather leave these bodies and be at home with the Lord. (CEV)
3. Why can we be sure that God will always be with us and fill
us with hope?
Philippians 2: 13God is working in you to make you
willing and able to obey him. (CEV)
Colossians 3: 16.... With thankful hearts, sing psalms,
hymns, and spiritual songs to God.
17Whatever you say or do
should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, as you give thanks to God
the Father because of him. (CEV)
4. When we are thankful, how does that influence our ability
to obey and please God?
Hebrews 12: 28We should be grateful that we were given
a kingdom that cannot be shaken. And in this kingdom we please God by worshiping
him and by showing him great honor and respect. (CEV)
Isaiah 12: 4...."Our LORD, we are thankful.... We
will tell the nations how glorious you are and what you have done." (CEV)
5. Tell us about the way you were originally told that God really
does care for you?
