Life Starts With God - Try To See Things From His Viewpoint
Ice-breaker: Describe a good teacher who could make you understand what they were teaching.

Colossians 1: 15Christ is exactly like God... 16Everything was created by him, everything in heaven and on earth, everything seen and unseen, including all forces and powers, and all rulers and authorities. All things were created by God's Son, and everything was made for him. (CEV)
1. Who is it that really does understand that they are made and kept alive by God?

Colossians 3: 1You have been raised to life with Christ. Now set your heart on what is in heaven, where Christ rules at God's right side. 2Think about what is up there, not about what is here on earth. 3You died, which means that your life is hidden with Christ, who sits beside God... 10Each of you is now a new person. You are becoming more and more like your Creator, and you will understand him better. 11.... Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.... 16Let the message about Christ completely fill your lives, while you use all your wisdom to teach and instruct each other. (CEV)
2. What does the Bible mean when it says that your life is hidden with Christ?

Philippians 3: 13My friends, I don't feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead. 14I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven. This is the prize that God offers because of what Christ Jesus has done. 15All of us who are mature should think in this same way. And if any of you think differently, God will make it clear to you. 16But we must keep going in the direction that we are now headed. (CEV)
3. Tell us a goal or purpose for serving God that you learned from being in a small group?

1 Corinthians 2: 15People who are guided by the Spirit can make all kinds of judgments, but they cannot be judged by others. 16The Scriptures ask, "Has anyone ever known the thoughts of the Lord or given him advice?" But we understand what Christ is thinking (CEV)
4. How can we actually make all kinds of judgments and avoid being judged by others?

Romans 12: 1.... I beg you to offer your bodies to him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing.... 2Don't be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him. (CEV)
5. When we try to think as Jesus thinks, how does God make that possible?

Jeremiah 17: 7But I will bless those who trust me. 8They will be like trees growing beside a stream trees with roots that reach down to the water, and with leaves that are always green. They bear fruit every year and are never worried by a lack of rain.
Psalms 1: 2.... the Law of the LORD makes them happy, and they think about it day and night. 3They are like trees growing beside a stream, trees that produce fruit in season and always have leaves. Those people succeed in everything they do. (CEV)
6. Where God talks about trees, flowers, and birds, how does that open our minds to Him?
