1 Timothy 3: 14.... I am writing these instructions,
15so that if I am delayed, you will know how everyone who
belongs to God's family ought to behave. (CEV)
1. Why do we have know what God thinks in order to behave properly
in His family?
Luke 12: 32My little group of disciples, don't
be afraid! Your Father wants to give you the kingdom. 33Sell
what you have and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves moneybags
that never wear out. Make sure your treasure is safe in heaven, where thieves
cannot steal it and moths cannot destroy it. 34Your heart will
always be where your treasure is. (CEV)
2. What does our hearts have to do with having our real treasures
in Heaven on not on earth?
Romans 12: 9Be sincere in your love for others. Hate
everything that is evil and hold tight to everything that is good. 10Love
each other as brothers and sisters and honor others more than you do
yourself. 11Never give up. Eagerly follow the Holy Spirit and
serve the Lord. 12Let your hope make you glad. Be patient in
time of trouble and never stop praying. 13Take care of God's
needy people and welcome strangers into your home.
14Ask God to bless everyone who mistreats you. Ask him to
bless them and not to curse them. 15When others are happy, be
happy with them, and when they are sad, be sad. 16Be friendly
with everyone. Don't be proud and feel that you are smarter than others.
Make friends with ordinary people. (CEV)
3. Tell us about an experience where you saw believers loving
others who mistreated them.
Mark 10: 29Jesus told him: "You can be sure that anyone
who gives up home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children
or land for me and for the good news 30will be rewarded. In
this world they will be given a hundred times as many homes and brothers
and sister and mothers and children.... in the world to come, they
will have eternal life." (CEV)
4. How do trouble and adversity make us aware that God supplies
many people to help us?
Acts 2: 44And all the believers met together constantly
and shared everything with each other, 45selling their possessions
and dividing with those in need. 46They.... met in small
groups in homes for Communion, and shared their meals with great joy
and thankfulness... (TLB)
5. When you read about the early believers, how does that help
you appreciate a small group?
Colossians 3: 12God loves you and has chosen you as
his own special people. So be gentle, kind, humble, meek, and patient.
13Put up with each other, and forgive anyone who does you wrong,
just as Christ has forgiven you. 14Love is more important than
anything else. It is what ties everything completely together. 15Each
one of you is part of the body of Christ, and you were chosen to live together
in peace. So let the peace that comes from Christ control your thoughts.
And be grateful. 16Let the message about Christ completely fill
your lives... (CEV)
6. Who do you know that is gentle, kind, humble, meek, and patient
- controlled by Christ?
