Ephesians 3: 16God is wonderful and glorious. I pray
that his Spirit will make you become strong followers 17and
that Christ will live in your hearts because of your faith. Stand firm
and be deeply rooted in his love.... 19I want you to know all
about Christ's love, although it is too wonderful to be measured. Then
your lives will be filled with all that God is. (CEV)
1. What are some ways the Spirit makes us strong and fills our lives
"with all that God is"?
John 1: 9The true light that shines on everyone was
coming into the world. 10The Word was in the world, but no one
knew him, though God had made the world with his Word. 11He
came into his own world, but his own nation did not welcome him. 12Yet
some people accepted him and put their faith in him. So he gave them the
right to be the children of God. 13They were not God's children
by nature or because of any human desires. God himself was the one who
made them his children. 14The Word became a human being and
lived here with us. We saw his true glory, the glory of the only Son of
the Father. From him all the kindness and all the truth of God have come
down to us. (CEV)
2. How do we accept God and put our faith in him? What does this mean?
Titus 2: 11God has shown us how kind he is by coming
to save all people. 12He taught us to give up our wicked ways
and our worldly desires and to live decent and honest lives in this world.
13We
are filled with hope, as we wait for the glorious return of our great God
and Savior Jesus Christ. 14He gave himself to rescue us from
everything that is evil and to make our hearts pure. He wanted us to be
his own people and to be eager to do right. (CEV)
3. How does this hope help us to do what is right and lead to eternal
life?
Romans 5: 1By faith we have been made acceptable to
God. And now, because of our Lord Jesus Christ, we live at peace a with
God. 2Christ has also introduced us to God's undeserved kindness
on which we take our stand. So we are happy, as we look forward to sharing
in the glory of God.
3But that's not all! We gladly suffer,
because we know that suffering helps us to endure. 4And endurance
builds character, which gives us a hope 5that will never disappoint
us. All of this happens because God has given us the Holy Spirit, who fills
our hearts with his love. (CEV)
4. Describe how happiness and suffering can co-exist and even help
us to endure.
Romans 3: 22God treats everyone alike. He accepts
people only because they have faith in Jesus Christ. 23All of
us have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. 24But God treats
us much better than we deserve, and because of Christ Jesus, he freely
accepts us and sets us free from our sins.
25-26God sent Christ
to be our sacrifice. Christ offered his life's blood, so that by faith
in him we could come to God. (CEV)
5. How does Christ's treatment towards us teach us how to treat others?
