Colossians 3: 1Since you have been raised to new life
with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits
at God's right hand in the place of honor and power. 2Let heaven
fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth.
3For you died when Christ died, and your real life is hidden
with Christ in God. 4And when Christ, who is your real life,
is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory..... 15And
let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.... 16Let
the words of Christ, in all their richness, live in your hearts and make
you wise. Use his words to teach and counsel each other. (NLT)
1. When you focus on things above, what are some of them?
Luke 6: 44A tree is identified by the kind of fruit
it produces. Figs never grow on thornbushes or grapes on bramble bushes.
45A good person produces good deeds from a good heart, and an
evil person produces evil deeds from an evil heart. Whatever is in your
heart determines what you say.(NLT)
2. Name one thing that has been on your heart lately.
John 14: 30I'll not be talking with you much more
like this because the chief of this godless world is about to attack. But
don't worry--he has nothing on me, no claim on me. 31But so
the world might know how thoroughly I love the Father, I am carrying out
my Father's instructions right down to the last detail. Get up. Let's go.
It's time to leave here. (MSG)
3. How can we demonstrate how much we love the Father?
Matthew 19: 13Some children were brought to Jesus
so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. The disciples told
them not to bother him. 14But Jesus said, "Let the children
come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such
as these." 15And he put his hands on their heads and blessed
them before he left. (NLT)
4. If the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these , what does this
tell us to be?
Mark 1: 36Simon and those with him went looking for
him. 37They found him and said, "Everybody's looking for you."
38Jesus said, "Let's go to the rest of the villages so I can
preach there also. This is why I've come." 39He went to their
meeting places all through Galilee, preaching and throwing out the demons.
(MSG)
5. What daily experiences do you think Jesus and the disciples faced
traveling from city to city?
Luke 5: 16But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness
for prayer.
Matthew 14: 22... Jesus made his disciples get back
into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake while he sent the
people home. 23Afterward he went up into the hills by himself
to pray. Night fell while he was there alone. (NLT)
6. When you want to be alone to pray, where do you go, if you feel
safe enough to tell us?
