Search & Learn - Acts 2: 42They spent
their time learning from the apostles, and they were like family to each
other. They also broke bread and prayed together.... (CEV)
1. What did the 3000 original converts at this time end up doing?
Spiritual Diet Check -- 1 Corinthians 3: 1My
friends, you are acting like the people of this world. That's why I could
not speak to you as spiritual people. You are like babies as far as your
faith in Christ is concerned. 2So I had to treat you like babies
and feed you milk. You could not take solid food, and you still cannot,
3because you are not yet spiritual. (CEV)
2. How did Paul contribute to the welfare of the church in Corinth?
Loving Others - 1 Corinthians 13: 1What if
I could speak all languages of humans and of angels? If I did not love
others, I would be nothing more than a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
2What
if I could prophesy and understand all secrets and all knowledge? And what
if I had faith that moved mountains? I would be nothing, unless I loved
others. (CEV)
3. Who is Paul thinking of and what is his main point in these verses?
Service - 1 Peter 4: 10Each of you has been
blessed with one of God's many wonderful gifts to be used in the service
of others. So use your gift well. (CEV)
4. How does the reality of Christ's glory and kindness influence your
daily behavior?
Community - Colossians 3: 16Let the words of
Christ, in all their richness, live in your hearts and make you wise. Use
his words to teach and counsel each other. (NLT)
5. What confirms that all close relationships are to be built around
Christ?
Obedience - 1 Corinthians 2: 13Every word we
speak was taught to us by God's Spirit, not by human wisdom. And this same
Spirit helps us teach spiritual things to spiritual people. 14That's
why only someone who has God's Spirit can understand spiritual blessings.
Anyone who doesn't have God's Spirit thinks these blessings are foolish.
15People who are guided by the Spirit can make all kinds of
judgments, but they cannot be judged by others. 16The Scriptures
ask, "Has anyone ever known the thoughts of the Lord or given him advice?"
But we understand what Christ is thinking. (CEV)
6. How does Paul say that the truth of the gospel (or good news) is
discovered?
Evangelism - John 15: 26I will send you the
Spirit who comes from the Father and shows what is true. The Spirit will
help you and will tell you about me. 27Then you will also tell
others about me, because you have been with me from the beginning. (CEV)
