John
6:27But you shouldn't be so concerned about perishable
things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that I, the
Son of Man, can give you. For God the Father has sent me for that very
purpose." 28They replied, "What does God want us to do?" 29Jesus
told them, "This is what God wants you to do: Believe in the one he has
sent." (NLT)
John 7: 37.... Jesus... shouted ... "If you are thirsty,
come to me! 38If you believe in me, come and drink! For the

39(.... he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to
everyone believing in him. (NLT)
1. How can Jesus quench our thirst? What kind of a thirst is He talking
about?
Isaiah 44: 3 For I will pour water on the thirsty
land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your
offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. 4 They will
spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams. (NIV)
2. How do these promises explain why eternal life is friendship
with God and Jesus?- [Jn 17:3]
John 15: 7Stay joined to me and let my teachings become
part of you. Then you can pray for whatever you want, and your prayer will
be answered. 8When you become fruitful disciples of mine, my
Father will be honored. (CEV)
3. Describe what it means to be "joined to Jesus" and to be "fruitful
disciples".
John 15:12Now
I tell you to love each other, as I have loved you. 13The greatest
way to show love for friends is to die for them. 14And you are
my friends, if you obey me. 15.... I speak to you as my friends,
and I have told you everything that my Father has told me. (CEV)
Luke 12: 32My little group of disciples, don't be
afraid! Your Father wants to give you the kingdom. (CEV)
4. What has
Jesus taught us about friendship?
John 15:26"But
I will send you the Counselor - the Spirit of truth. He will come to you
from the Father and will tell you all about me. 27And you must
also tell others about me because you have been with me from the beginning. (NLT)
5. How does the Holy Spirit change our lives?
Philippians 2: 19I
want to be encouraged by news about you. So I hope the Lord Jesus will
soon let me send Timothy to you. 20I don't have anyone else
who cares about you as much as he does.
21The others think only
about what interests them and not about what concerns Christ Jesus. 22But
you know what kind of person Timothy is. He has worked with me like a son
in spreading the good news.
6. Why does Paul speak so highly of Timothy? Has there ever been a
"Timothy" in your life?
