Commitments That Change Your Life
IntimacyBuilder: Describe when you first commited your life to Jesus

Psalms 14: 2From heaven the LORD looks down to see if anyone is wise enough to search for him. Romans 10; 9So you will be saved, if you honestly say, "Jesus is Lord," and if you believe with all your heart that God raised him from death. (CEV)
1. Why does God have anything to do with us?

2 Corinthians 5: 19What we mean is that God was in Christ, offering peace and forgiveness to the people of this world. And he has given us the work of sharing his message about peace. 20We were sent to speak for Christ, and God is begging you to listen to our message. (CEV)
2. Describe what this message of peace is all about.

1 Peter 1: 3Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is so good, and by raising Jesus from death, he has given us new life and a hope that lives on.
1 Peter 4:10Each of you has been blessed with one of God's many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gift well. (CEV)
3. How does God expect us to use our gifts?

Hebrews 6: 1We must try to become mature and start thinking about more than just the basic things we were taught about Christ. We shouldn't need to keep talking about why we ought to turn from deeds that bring death and why we ought to have faith in God. (CEV)
4. What does it mean to become mature in Christ?

Matthew 20: 28The Son of Man did not come to be a slave master, but a slave who will give his life to rescue many people. Ephesians 6: 10Finally, let the mighty strength of the Lord make you strong. 11Put on all the armor that God gives, so you can defend yourself against the devil's tricks. 12We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world.
5. What does Jesus teach us about strength and commitment?

Titus 2: 14He gave himself to rescue us from everything that is evil and to make our hearts pure. He wanted us to be his own people and to be eager to do right. Romans 12:1Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing. That's the most sensible way to serve God. (CEV)
6. In what ways can we help each other keep pure?

Psalms 37: 5Let the LORD lead you and trust him to help. Philippians 2: 13God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him. (CEV)
7. How should our commitment to Jesus change as we mature?
