Life In Christ Means Good Relationships
Intimacy Builder: Tell about a mischievous deed you did as a kid.

2 Corinthians 5: 19What we mean is that God was in Christ, offering peace and forgiveness to the people of this world. And he has given us the work of sharing his message about peace. 20We were sent to speak for Christ, and God is begging you to listen to our message. We speak for Christ and sincerely ask you to make peace with God. 21Christ never sinned! But God treated him as a sinner, so that Christ could make us acceptable to God. (CEV)
1. What does it mean that God treated Jesus as a sinner? Why would He do this?

Matthew 6: 12Forgive us for doing wrong, as we forgive others.... 14If you forgive others for the wrongs they do to you, your Father in heaven will forgive you. 15But if you don't forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. 1 John 1: 9But if we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins away. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and his message isn't in our hearts. (CEV)
2. How is it possible to forgive others if they did something horrible to us?

Matthew 18: 21Peter came up to the Lord and asked, "How many times should I forgive someone who does something wrong to me? Is seven times enough?" 22Jesus answered:
Not just seven times, but seventy_seven times! ....
32The king called the first official back in and said, "You're an evil man! When you begged for mercy, I said you did not have to pay back a cent. 33Don't you think you should show pity to someone else, as I did to you?" 34The king was so angry that he ordered the official to be tortured until he could pay back everything he owed. 35That is how my Father in heaven will treat you, if you don't forgive each of my followers with all your heart. (CEV)
3. Should we forgive everyone? Even those that are not sorry?

Matthew 7: 1Don't condemn others, and God won't condemn you. 2God will be as hard on you as you are on others! He will treat you exactly as you treat them. 3You can see the speck in your friend's eye, but you don't notice the log in your own eye.... 5You're nothing but show_offs! First, take the log out of your own eye. Then you can see how to take the speck out of your friend's eye.... 12Treat others as you want them to treat you. This is what the Law and the Prophets are all about. (CEV)
4. How can we better help others by helping ourselves first?

Colossians 2: 13You were dead, because you were sinful and were not God's people. But God let Christ make you alive, when he forgave all our sins. Romans 6: 1What should we say? Should we keep on sinning, so that God's wonderful kindness will show up even better? 2No, we should not! If we are dead to sin, how can we go on sinning? (CEV)
5. What motivates us to do good and stop sinning?
