Understanding Relationships - Genuine Friends
IceBreaker: Tell about the first school you attended.

1 Corinthians 13: 12Now all we can see of God is like a cloudy picture in a mirror. Later we will see him face to face. We don't know everything, but then we will, just as God completely understands us. 13For now there are faith, hope, and love. But of these three, the greatest is love. Exodus 33: 9-11Then they would bow down because a thick cloud would come down in front of the tent, and the LORD would speak to Moses face to face, just like a friend. Afterwards, Moses would return to camp, but his young assistant Joshua would stay at the tent. (CEV)
1. How can faith and hope lead us to love like Jesus?

Job 6: 14 "A despairing man should have the devotion of his friends, even though he forsakes the fear of the Almighty. 15 But my brothers are as undependable as intermittent streams, as the streams that overflow. Job 42: 10 After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before. (NIV)
2. Why do believers experience troubles and suffering?

James 2: 23This is what the Scriptures mean by saying, "Abraham had faith in God, and God was pleased with him." That's how Abraham became God's friend.
John 15: 15Servants don't know what their master is doing, and so I don't speak to you as my servants. I speak to you as my friends, and I have told you everything that my Father has told me. (CEV)
3. How do people let small problems get in the way of loving others?

James 5: 16If you have sinned, you should tell each other what you have done. Then you can pray for one another and be healed. The prayer of an innocent person is powerful, and it can help a lot. (CEV)
4. Should prayer come first or be a last resort?

Genesis 2: 25Although the man and his wife were both naked, they were not ashamed. Gen 3: 8Late in the afternoon a breeze began to blow, and the man and woman heard the LORD God walking in the garden. They were frightened and hid behind some trees. 9The LORD called out to the man and asked, "Where are you?" 10The man answered, "I was naked, and when I heard you walking through the garden, I was frightened and hid!" (CEV) 5. How do guilty feelings bring us closer to God?
