Luke 17: 21There is no use saying, `Look! Here it
is' or `Look! There it is.' God's kingdom is here with you."
John 6: 24They saw that Jesus and his disciples had
left. Then they got into the boats and went to Capernaum to look for Jesus.
25They found him on the west side of the lake and asked, "Rabbi,
when did you get here?" 26Jesus answered, "I tell you for certain
that you are not looking for me because you saw the miracles, but because
you ate all the food you wanted. 27Don't work for food that
spoils. Work for food that gives eternal life. The Son of Man will
give you this food, because God the Father has given him the right to do
so." 28"What exactly does God want us to do?" the people asked.
29Jesus answered, "God wants you to have faith in the
one he sent." (CEV)
1. How exactly does Jesus want us to follow Him?
Colossians 3: 11…and you may be a slave or a free
person. Yet Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of
us. 12God loves you and has chosen you as his own special
people. So be gentle, kind, humble, meek, and patient. 13Put
up with each other, and forgive anyone who does you wrong, just as Christ
has forgiven you. 14Love is more important than anything
else. It is what ties everything completely together. 15Each
one of you is part of the body of Christ, and you were chosen to live together
in peace. So let the peace that comes from Christ control your thoughts.
And be grateful. 16Let the message about Christ completely fill
your lives, while you use all your wisdom to teach and instruct each other.
With thankful hearts, sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. 17Whatever
you say or do should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, as you give
thanks to God the Father because of him. (CEV)
2. Why is it so hard to live for God this way every day?
Luke 6: 32If you love only someone who loves you,
will God praise you for that? Even sinners love people who love them. 33If
you are kind only to someone who is kind to you, will God be pleased
with you for that? Even sinners are kind to people who are kind to
them. (CEV)
3. Who are we called to love?
Matthew 14: 26When they saw him, they thought he was
a ghost. They were terrified and started screaming. 27At once,
Jesus said to them, "Don't worry! I am Jesus. Don't be afraid." 28Peter
replied, "Lord, if it is really you, tell me to come to you on the
water." 29"Come on!" Jesus said. Peter then got out of the boat
and started walking on the water toward him. 30But when Peter
saw how strong the wind was, he was afraid and started sinking.
"Save me, Lord!" he shouted. 31Right away, Jesus reached out
his hand. He helped Peter up and said, "You surely don't have much faith.
Why do you doubt?" (CEV)
