Deuteronomy 29: 29 The secret things belong to the
LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children
forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. (NIV)
1. What has been revealed to you that made you believe in God?
John 6: 41At this the Jews began to grumble about
him because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven." 42They
said, "Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we
know? How can he now say, 'I came down from heaven'?" 43"Stop
grumbling among yourselves," Jesus answered. (NIV)
2. Can people believe in Jesus without God's urging?
John 19: 25Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother,
his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26When
Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby,
he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," 27and
to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple
took her into his home. (NIV)
3. Why did Jesus ask his close friend to care for his mother instead
of his brothers?
Lamentations 3: 36and he knows when you refuse to
give someone a fair trial. 37No one can do anything without
the Lord's approval. 38Good and bad each happen at the command
of God Most High. (CEV)
4. What does it mean No one can do anything without the Lord s approval?
2 Corinthians 10: 15We don't brag about what others
have done, as if we had done those things ourselves. But I hope that as
you become stronger in your faith, we will be able to reach many more of
the people around you. That has always been our goal. 16Then
we will be able to preach the good news in other lands where we cannot
take credit for work someone else has already done. 17The Scriptures
say, "If you want to brag, then brag about the Lord." 18You
may brag about yourself, but the only approval that counts is the
Lord's approval. (NIV)
5. How can you brag about the Lord?
Ephesians 4: 22You were taught, with regard to your
former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted
by its deceitful desires; 23to be made new in the attitude of
your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like
God in true righteousness and holiness. (NIV)
6. What changes do we have to make to be more like God?
