Leviticus 26: 18If after all this you will not listen
to me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over. 19I
will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron
and the ground beneath you like bronze. 20Your strength will
be spent in vain, because your soil will not yield its crops, nor will
the trees of the land yield their fruit.
1. How do we know if we are listening to God ? (If we are obedient
or disobedient?)
Philippians 2: 5Your attitude should be the same as
that of Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but
made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in
human likeness. 8And being found in appearance as a man, he
humbled himself and became obedient to death--even death on a cross! 9Therefore
God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above
every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and every tongue
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (NIV)
2. How do we develop a genuine interest in others?
Romans 13: 6This is also why you pay taxes, for the
authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing.
7Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes;
if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
(NIV)
3. What practical implication does this scripture have?
Mark 12: 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. There
is no commandment greater than these. (NIV)
4. How can these two simple commands help us to make decisions in our
daily lives?
Mark 10: 42Jesus called them together and said, "You
know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over
them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43Not
so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your
servant, 44and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.
45For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to
serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." (NIV)
5. In Gods kingdom, why is service the way to get ahead?
