Book 1 - Chap 1 - How God Uses Groups:         Grp003          31 May 1998
Jesus Helps Us With Our Weaknesses.
Ice-breaker:  Tell us about an event you participated in with a school team or scout troop.

1 Corinthians 1: 26My dear friends, remember what you were when God chose you. The people of this world didn't think that many of you were wise. Only a few of you were in places of power, and not many of you came from important families. 27But God chose the foolish things of this world to put the wise to shame. He chose the weak things of this world to put the powerful to shame. 28What the world thinks is worthless, useless, and nothing at all is what God has used to destroy what the world considers important. (CEV)

1 Corinthians 2: 15People who are guided by the Spirit can make all kinds of judgments, but they cannot be judged by others. 16The Scriptures ask, "Has anyone ever known the thoughts of the LORD or given him advice?" But we understand what Christ is thinking. (CEV)

1 Corinthians 12: 18But God has put all parts of our body together in the way that he decided is best. 19A body isn't really a body, unless there is more than one part. 20It takes many parts to make a single body. 21That's why the eyes cannot say they don't need the hands. That's also why the head cannot say it doesn't need the feet. 22In fact, we cannot get along without the parts of the body that seem to be the weakest. 23We take special care to dress up some parts of our bodies. We are modest about our personal parts,.....  27Together you are the body of Christ. Each one of you is part of his body. (CEV)

Romans 12:4A body is made up of many parts, and each of them has its own use. 5That's how it is with us. There are many of us, but we each are part of the body of Christ, as well as part of one another. 6God has also given each of us different gifts to use. If we can prophesy, we should do it according to the amount of faith we have. 7 If we can serve others, we should serve. If we can teach, we should teach. 8If we can encourage others, we should encourage them. If we can give, we should be generous. If we are leaders, we should do our best. If we are good to others, we should do it cheerfully. (CEV)

Galatians 5: 22God's Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, 23gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways. (CEV)

1 Corinthians 13: 4Love is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud, or 5rude. Love isn't selfish or quick tempered. It doesn't keep a record of wrongs that others do. 6Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil. 7Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting. (CEV)

1. What makes each of us productive parts of God's family, and how can we keep our priorities on that?
2. How does God's Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled?
3. Why did God choose the weak and worthless things of the world to make the strong and wise people ashamed?
4. When friends meet weekly or periodically how does that help us be an encouragement and support to each other?
