I John 1: ⁵Jesus told us that God is light and doesn't have any darkness in him. Now we are telling you. ⁶If we say that we share in life with God and keep on living in the dark, we are lying and are not living by the truth. ⁷But if we live in the light, as God does, we share in life with each other. And the blood of his Son Jesus washes all our sins away. (CEV)

John 1: And with this Word, God created all things. Nothing was made without the Word. Everything that was created ⁴received its life from him, and his life gave light to everyone. ⁵The light keeps shining in the dark, and darkness has never put it out.... ⁹The true light that shines on everyone was coming into the world. ¹⁰The Word was in the world, but no one knew him, though God had made the world with his Word. ¹¹He came into his own world, but his own nation did not welcome him. ¹²Yet some people accepted him and put their faith in him. So he gave them the right to be the children of God. ¹³They were not God's children by nature or because of any human desires. God himself was the one who made them his children.¹⁴The Word became a human being and lived here with us. We saw his true glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father. From him all the kindness and all the truth of God have come down to us. (CEV)

Matthew 6: ¹⁹Don't store up treasures on earth! Moths and rust can destroy them, and thieves can break in and steal them. ²⁰Instead, store up your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy them, and thieves cannot break in and steal them. ²¹Your heart will always be where your treasure is. ²²Your eyes are like a window for your body. When they are good, you have all the light you need. ²³But when your eyes are bad, everything is dark. If the light inside you is dark, you surely are in the dark.(CEV)

John 3: ¹¹...I tell you for certain that we know what we are talking about because we have seen it ourselves.... ¹²If you don't believe when I talk to you about things on earth, how can you possibly believe if I talk to you about things in heaven? (CEV)

1. How does thinking about God's Word flood light into our hearts and minds?
2. Compare wisdom from heaven with earthly wisdom that we hear about daily.
3. Why does God love to have the light of Jesus shine out from us into our world?
4. Describe some ways intimate groups help us see the Bible as God's light.
