Jump for Joy! Jesus Makes Our Joy Complete.
Ice Breaker: Describe the happiest event of your life.

Matthew 5: 11God will bless you when people insult you, mistreat you, and tell all kinds of evil lies about you because of me. 12Be happy and excited! You will have a great reward in heaven. People did these same things to the prophets who lived long ago. (CEV)

John 15: 10If you obey me, I will keep loving you, just as my Father keeps loving me, because I have obeyed him. 11I have told you this to make you as completely happy as I am. (CEV)

John 16: 22You are now very sad. But later I will see you, and you will be so happy that no one will be able to change the way you feel. 23...I tell you for certain that the Father will give you whatever you ask for in my name. 24...Then it will be given to you, so that you will be completely happy....
33I have told you this, so that you might have peace in your hearts because of me. While you
are in the world, you will have to suffer. But cheer up! I have defeated the world. (CEV)

2 Corinthians 1: 3Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! The Father is a merciful God, who always gives us comfort. 4He comforts us when we are in trouble, so that we can share that same comfort with others in trouble. 5We share in the terrible sufferings of Christ, but also in the wonderful comfort he gives. 6We suffer in the hope that you will be comforted and saved. And because we are comforted, you will also be comforted, as you patiently endure suffering like ours. 7You never disappoint us. You suffered as much as we did, and we know that you will be comforted as we were....
9In fact, we felt sure that we were going to die. But this made us stop trusting in ourselves and start trusting God, who raises the dead to life. (CEV)

James 1: 2My friends, be glad, even if you have a lot of trouble. 3You know that you learn to endure by having your faith tested. 4But you must learn to endure everything, so that you will be completely mature and not lacking in anything. (CEV)

Hebrews 12:11It is never fun to be corrected. In fact, at the time it is always painful. But if we learn to obey by being corrected, we will do right and live at peace. (CEV)

1. How does God enable us to overcome sorrow and find complete joy?
2. How do we share both sorrow and joy when we meet together?
