Ice Breaker: Tell us of one thing you really desired as a child. Did you receive it?
Romans 5: 2... So we are happy, as we look forward to sharing in the glory of God. 3But that's not all! We gladly suffer, because we know that suffering helps us to endure. 4And endurance builds character, which gives us a hope 5that will never disappoint us. All of this happens because God has given us the Holy Spirit who fills our hearts with love. (CEV)
Romans 8: 2The Holy Spirit will give you life that
comes from Christ Jesus and will set you free from sin and death....
5People who are ruled by their desires
think only of themselves. Everyone who is ruled by the Holy Spirit thinks
about spiritual things.....
9You, however, are controlled not by
the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you.
And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to
Christ.
10But Christ lives in you. So you are alive because
God has accepted you, even though your bodies must die because of sin.
14Only those people who are led by the
God's Spirit are his children. 15God's Spirit doesn't make us
slaves who are afraid of him. Instead, we become his children and call
him our Father.
16God's Spirit makes us sure that we are his
children. (CEV)
Romans 8: 23The Spirit makes us sure about what we
will be in the future...
26In certain ways we are weak, but the
Spirit is here to help us. For example, when we don't know what to pray
for, the Spirit prays for us in ways that cannot be put into words. 27All
of our thoughts are known to God. He can understand what is in the mind
of the Spirit, as the Spirit prays for God's people. Also see

Romans 8: 38I am sure that nothing can separate us from God's lovenot life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, 39and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God's love for us in Christ Jesus our LORD! (CEV)
Romans 14: 1Welcome all the Lord's followers, even
those whose faith is weak. Don't criticize them for having beliefs that
are different from yours....
10Why do you criticize other followers
of the Lord? Why do you look down on them? The day is coming when God will
judge all of us...
17The kingdom of God isn't about eating and drinking. It
is about pleasing God, about living in peace, and about true happiness.
All this comes from the Holy Spirit...
22What you believe about these things should be kept between
you and God. (CEV)
Romans 15: 13I pray that God, who gives hope, will bless you with complete happiness and peace because of your faith. And may the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope. (CEV)
Galatians 5: 22God's Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, 23gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways. 24And because we belong to Christ Jesus, we have killed our selfish feelings and desires. 25God's Spirit has given us life, and so we should follow the Spirit. 26But don't be conceited or make others jealous by claiming to be better than they are. (CEV)

2. Compare God's love for us and our love for our children and grandchildren.
3. How does God's Spirit lead us and work in us when we talk together
about His Word?
4. How can we best help other believers when they disagree with us?
