Genesis 50: ¹⁵After Jacob died, Joseph's brothers said to each other, "What if Joseph still hates us and wants to get even with us for all the cruel things we did to him?" ¹⁶So they sent this message to Joseph: Before our father died, ¹⁷he told us, "You did some cruel and terrible things to Joseph, but you must ask him to forgive you." Now we ask you to please forgive the terrible things we did. After all, we serve the same God that your father worshiped.¹⁸Right then, Joseph's brothers came and bowed down to the ground in front of him and said, "We are your slaves." ¹⁹But Joseph told them, "Don't be afraid! I have no right to change what God has decided. ²⁰You tried to harm me, but God made it turn out for the best, so that he could save all these people, as he is now doing. ²¹Don't be afraid! I will take care of you and your children." After Joseph said this, his brothers felt much better. After Jacob died, Joseph's brothers said to each other, "What if Joseph still hates us and wants to get even with us for all the cruel things we did to him?"  (CEV)

Luke 2: ⁴⁹"Jesus answered, "Why did you have to look for me? Didn't you know that I would be in my Father's house?" ⁵⁰But they did not understand what he meant. ⁵¹Jesus went back to Nazareth with his parents and obeyed them. His mother kept on thinking about all that had happened. ⁵²Jesus became wise, and he grew strong. God was pleased with him and so were the people. (CEV)

Ephesians 5: ²¹Honor Christ and put others first. 22A wife should put her husband first, as she does the LORD. ²³A husband is the head of his wife, as Christ is the head and the Savior of the church, which is his own body.... ²⁸In the same way, a husband should love his wife as much as he loves himself. A husband who loves his wife shows that he loves himself. ²⁹None of us hate our own bodies.... ³³So each husband should love his wife as much as he loves himself, and each wife should respect her husband. (CEV)

Ephesians 6: ¹Children, you belong to the Lord, and you do the right thing when you obey your parents. ²Obey your father and your mother, ³and you will long and happy life. ⁴Parents, don't be hard on your children. Raise them properly. Teach them and instruct them about the Lord. (CEV)

2 Timothy 3: ¹⁴Don't let anyone forget these things. And with God as your witness, you must warn them not to argue about words. These arguments don't help anyone. In fact, they ruin everyone who listens to them. ¹⁵Do your best to win God's approval as a worker who doesn't need to be ashamed and who teaches only the true message.

1. Why does God expect husband and wife to relate to each other as a loving team?
2. What kind of lifestyle teaches the children to know the love and care of God?
3. How did Jesus behave as a child of earthly parents and also the Son of God?
4. How does an intimate small group help us to behave as God's true children?
5. Why was Joseph so kind and forgiving even though his brothers had been so evil?
