Matthew 4: "Listen, lands of Zebulun and Naphtali, lands alongthe road to the seaand east of the Jordan! Listen Galilee, land of theGentiles! ¹⁶Although your people live in darkness, they willsee a bright light. Although they live in the shadow of death, a lightwill shine on them." ¹⁷Then Jesus started preaching, "Turn backto God! The kingdomof heaven will soon be here." (CEV)

Mark 8: ³⁴Jesus then told the crowd and the disciples to come closer, and he said: If any of you want to be my followers, youmust forget about yourself. You must take up your cross and follow me.³⁵ Ifyou want to save your life, you will destroy it. But if you give up your life for me and for the good news, you will save it. 36What will you gain, if you own the whole world but destroy yourself? ³⁷What couldyou give to get back your soul? ³⁸Don't be ashamed of me andmy message among these unfaithful and sinful people! If you are, the Sonof Man willbe ashamed of you when he comes in the glory of his Fatherwith the holy angels. (CEV)

Luke 10: ²He said to them: "A large crop is in thefields, but there are only a few workers. Ask the Lord in charge of theharvest to send out workers to bring it in. ³Now go, but remember,I am sending you like lambs into a pack of wolves. ⁴Don't takealong a moneybag or a traveling bag or sandals. And don't waste time greetingpeople on the road. ⁵As soon as you enter a home, say, 'Godbless this home with peace.' ⁶If the people living there arepeace-loving, your prayer for peace will bless them. But if the are notpeace-loving, your prayer will return to you. (CEV)

John 17: ²⁰I am not praying just for these followers. I am also praying for everyone else who will have faith because of whatmy followers will say about me, ²¹I want all of them to be onewith each other, just as I am one with you and you are one with me. I alsowant them to be one with us. Then the people of this world will believethat you sent me. (CEV)

2 Coribthians 5: ¹⁴We are ruled by Christ's love for us. We are certain that if one person died for everyone else, then allofus have died. ¹⁵And Christ did die for all of us. He diedso wewould no longer live for ourselves, but for the one who died andwas raisedto life for us.... ¹⁸God has done it all! He sentChrist to makepeace between himself and us, and he has given us the workof making peacebetween himself and others. ¹⁹What we mean isthat God was in Christ,offering peace and forgiveness to the people ofthis world. And he has givenus the work of sharing his message about peace.²⁰We were sentto speak for Christ, and God is begging you tolisten to our message. We speakfor Christ and sincerely ask you to makepeace with God. (CEV)

Romans 5:10 Even when we were God's enemies, he made peace with us, because his Son died for us. Yet something even greater than friendship is ours. Now that we are at peace with God, we will be saved by his Son's life. (CEV)

1. What should have Jesus miracles proved to those people who saw them or were healed?
2. How is it that we can become ashamed of the things that Jesus taught?
3. Why was Jesus willing to give His life in order that even His enemiesmight gain true life?
