Matthew 6: ¹⁹Don't store up treasures on earth! Moths and rust can destroy them, and thieves can break in and steal them. ²⁰Instead, store up your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy them, and thieves cannot break in and steal them. ²¹Your heart will always be where your treasure is.... ²⁴You cannot be the slave of two masters! You will like one more than the other or be more loyal to one than the other. You cannot serve both God and money. (CEV)

Galatians 6: ⁷...You will harvest what you plant. ⁸If you follow your selfish desires, you will harvest destruction, but if you follow the Spirit, you will harvest eternal life. ⁹Don't get tired of helping others. You will be rewarded when the time is right, if you don't give up. ¹⁰We should help people whenever we can, especially if they are followers of the LORD. (CEV)

Philippians 4: ⁴Always be glad because of the LORD! I will say it again: Be glad. ⁵Always be gentle with others. The LORD will soon be here. ⁶Don't worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. ⁷Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel ...(CEV)

Hebrews 13: ⁵Don't fall in love with money. Be satisfied with what you have. The LORD has promised that he will not leave us or desert us. (CEV)

1 Timothy 6: ⁷We didn't bring anything into this world, and we won't take anything with us when we leave. ⁸So we should be satisfied just to have food and clothes. ⁹People who want to be rich fall into all sorts of temptations and traps. They are caught by foolish and harmful desires that drag them down and destroy them. ¹⁰The love of money causes all kinds of trouble. Some people want money so much that they have given up their faith and caused themselves a lot of pain. (CEV)

1. Since God created everything and plans to give us everything we need, why does that help us be content?
2. Why is it wrong for us for us to love money and possessions?
3. What happens when we love others so much that we actually give ourselves and our possessions away?
4. How does open discussion in a group meeting help us to correct our own false attachments and ideas?
