13Youcall me your teacher and LORD, and you should, because that
is who I am.14Andif your LORD and teacher has washed your feet,
you should do the same foreach other.15I have set the example,
and you should do for eachother exactly what I have done for you. (CEV)
Luke 14: 7Jesus saw how the guests had tried to take
the best seats. So he told them:.... 10When you are invitedto
be a guest, go and sit in the worst place. Then the one who. invitedyou
may come and say, "My friend, take a better seat!" You will then behonored
in front of all the other guests. 11If you put yourselfabove
others, you will be put down. But if you humble yourself, you willbe honored.
13When you give a feast, invite the poor,the
crippled, the lame, and the blind. 14They cannot pay youback.
But God will bless you and reward you when his people rise from death.

rule. 26But don't act like them. If you want to be great,you
must be the servant of all the others. 27And if you wantto be
first, you must be the slave of the rest. 28The Son ofMan did
not come to be a slave master, but a slave who will give his lifeto rescue

Luke 9: 46Jesus' disciples were arguing about whichone of them was the greatest. 47Jesus knew what they were thinking, and he had a child stand there beside him. 48Then he said tohis disciples, "When you welcome even a child because of me, you welcomeme. And when you welcome me, you welcome the one who sent me. Whicheverone of you is the most humble is the greatest." (CEV)
1. What is so important about the example of humility and service that
Jesus showed His chosen servants?
2. Why does Jesus teach us to take the lowest place whenever we areinvited
to a place with many guests?
3. How can we know God as our Father and as the One who has all thetruth
and love that we need?
