Luke 14: ⁷Jesus saw how the guests had tried to take the best seats. So he told them:.... ¹⁰When you are invitedto be a guest, go and sit in the worst place. Then the one who. invitedyou may come and say, "My friend, take a better seat!" You will then behonored in front of all the other guests. ¹¹If you put yourselfabove others, you will be put down. But if you humble yourself, you willbe honored.
    ¹³When you give a feast, invite the poor,the crippled, the lame, and the blind. ¹⁴They cannot pay youback. But God will bless you and reward you when his people rise from death. (CEV)

John 1: ¹⁴The Word became a human being and livedhere with us. We saw his true glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father.From him all the kindness and all the truth of God have come down to us...
    ¹⁸No one has ever seen God. The onlySon, who is truly God and is closest to the Father, has shown us what Godis like.

Matthew 20: ²¹"When you come into your kingdom, please let one of my sons sit at your right side and the other at your left." ²²Jesusanswered, "Not one of you knows what you are asking....
    ²⁴When the ten other disciples heardthis, they were angry with the two brothers. ²⁵But Jesus calledthe disciples together and said: You know that foreign rulers like to ordertheir people around. And their great leaders have full power over everyonethey rule. ²⁶But don't act like them. If you want to be great,you must be the servant of all the others. ²⁷And if you wantto be first, you must be the slave of the rest. ²⁸The Son ofMan did not come to be a slave master, but a slave who will give his lifeto rescue many people. Luke 9: ⁴⁶Jesus' disciples were arguing about whichone of them was the greatest. ⁴⁷Jesus knew what they were thinking, and he had a child stand there beside him. ⁴⁸Then he said tohis disciples, "When you welcome even a child because of me, you welcomeme. And when you welcome me, you welcome the one who sent me. Whicheverone of you is the most humble is the greatest." (CEV)

1. What is so important about the example of humility and service that Jesus showed His chosen servants?
2. Why does Jesus teach us to take the lowest place whenever we areinvited to a place with many guests?
3. How can we know God as our Father and as the One who has all thetruth and love that we need?
4. When we come together, how can we show God and each other that wewant to be humble?
