Developing a True Understanding of Jesus
Icebreaker: Tell us about the most wonderful birth that you have been associated with.

John 3: 12If you don't believe when I talk to you about things on earth, how can you possibly believe if I talk to you about things in heaven? 13No one has gone up to heaven except the Son of Man, who came down from there.... 31God's Son comes from heaven and is above all others. (CEV)

John 6: 27Don't work for food that spoils. Work for food that gives eternal life. The Son of Man will give you this food ...." 28"What exactly does God want us to do?" the people asked. 29Jesus answered, "God wants you to have faith in the one he sent." ... 38I didn't come from heaven to do what I want! I came to do what the Father wants me to do. He sent me .... (CEV)

Luke 2: 5Mary was engaged to Joseph and traveled with him to Bethlehem. She was soon going to have a baby, 6and while they were there, 7she gave birth to her first_born son. She dressed him in baby clothes and laid him on a bed of hay, because there was no room for them in the inn. 8That night in the fields near Bethlehem some shepherds were guarding their sheep. 9All at once an angel came down to them from the Lord, and the brightness of the LORD'S glory flashed around them. The shepherds were frightened. 10But the angel said, "Don't be afraid! I have good news for you, which will make everyone happy. 11This very day in King David's hometown a Savior was born for you. He is Christ the Lord ...." 13Suddenly many other angels came down from heaven and joined in praising God. They said: 14"Praise God in heaven! Peace on earth to everyone who pleases God." ... 16They hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and they saw the baby lying on a bed of hay. 17When the shepherds saw Jesus, they told his parents what the angel had said about him.... 20As the shepherds returned to their sheep, they were praising God ... (CEV)

Ephesians 2: 6God raised us from death to life with Christ Jesus, and he has given us a place beside Christ in heaven. 7God did this so that in the future world he could show how truly good and kind he is to us because of what Christ Jesus has done. 8You were saved by faith in God ..., This is God's gift to you, and not anything you have done on your own. (CEV)

John 15: 15... I speak to you as my friends, and I have told you everything.... (CEV)

1 Peter 3: 22Christ is now in heaven, where he sits at the right side of God. All angels, authorities, and powers are under his control.(CEV)

Colossians 1: 16Everything was created by him, everything in heaven and on earth, everything seen and unseen, including all forces and powers, and all rulers and authorities. All things were created by God's Son, and everything was made for him.
