IceBreaker: Tell about a time when you were homesick as a child.

James 4: 8Come near to God, and he will come near to you.
1 Thessalonians 3: 12May the Lord make your love for each other and for everyone else grow by leaps and bounds. That's how our love for you has grown. (CEV)
1. Which of the above prayer requests would you like to have someone pray for you? Why?

Exodus 34: 14I demand your complete loyalty - you must not worship any other god!
Isaiah 1: 18I, the LORD, invite you to come and talk it over. Your sins are scarlet red, but they will be whiter than snow or wool. (CEV)
2. What does God require of you before you can teach others?

Genesis 3: 8.... the man and woman heard the LORD God walking in the garden. They were frightened and hid behind some trees. 9The LORD called out .... "Where are you?" (CEV)
Colossians 1: 21You used to be far from God. Your thoughts made you his enemies, and you did evil things. 22But his Son became a human and died. So God made peace with you, and now he lets you stand in his presence as people who are holy and faultless and innocent. (CEV)
3. How much do you identify even now with the idea of being for from God.

Matthew 11: 19But the Son of Man goes around eating and drinking, and you say, "That man eats and drinks too much! He is even a friend of tax collectors and sinners."
Romans 12: 16Be friendly with everyone. Don't be proud and feel that you are smarter than others. Make friends with ordinary people. (CEV)
4. Explain why love is harder to practice when a friend hurts you rather than an acquaintance?

2 Corinthians 5: 18God has done it all! He sent Christ to make peace between himself and us, and he has given us the work of making peace between himself and others.
John 15: 13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. (CEV)
Romans 5: 10For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! (NIV)
5. How do you handle flashbacks that remind you of your past mistakes?

James 2: 22.... he was willing to do whatever God told him to do. His faith was made complete by what he did-by his actions. 23... it happened just as the Scriptures say: "Abraham believed God, so God declared him to be righteous." He was even called "the friend of God." (NLT)
Revelation 3: 20Listen! I am standing and knocking at your door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will eat together. (CEV)
6. Why is Abraham such a good example of faith in action? What is your spiritual temperature?
