1
Timothy 6: 6And religion does make your life rich, by making
you content with what you have.
7We didn't bring anything into
this world, and we won't take anything with us when we leave. 8So
we should be satisfied just to have food and clothes. 9People
who want to be rich fall into all sorts of temptations and traps. They
are caught by foolish and harmful desires that drag them down and destroy
them. 10The love of money causes all kinds of trouble. Some
people want money so much that they have given up their faith and caused
themselves a lot of pain. 11Timothy, you belong to God, so keep
away from all these evil things. Try your best to please God and to be
like him. Be faithful, loving, dependable, and gentle. 12Fight
a good fight for the faith and claim eternal life. God offered it to you
when you clearly told about your faith, while so many people listened.(CEV)
1. What is the great gain
in godliness with contentment?
Matthew
1: 22So the LORD'S promise came true, just as the prophet
had said, 23"A virgin will have a baby boy, and he will be called
Immanuel," which means "God is with us." John 1: 9The
true light that shines on everyone was coming into the world. Luke 2:30With
my own eyes I have seen what you have done to save your people, 31and
foreign nations will also see this.(CEV)
2. How has Christ brought
light to your life as Immanuel, "God with Us"?
Proverbs
23: 4Give up trying so hard to get rich. 5Your
money flies away before you know it, just like an eagle suddenly taking
off. 2 Peter 1: 3We have everything we need to live a
life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God's own power, when
we learned that he had invited us to share in his wonderful goodness. Luke
12: 15Then he said to the crowd, "Don't be greedy! Owning
a lot of things won't make your life safe."(CEV)
3. What is everything we
need to live life that pleases God?
John
1: 13They were not God's children by nature or because of
any human desires. God himself was the one who made them his children.
Mt
12: 31-32I tell you that any sinful thing you do or say
can be forgiven. Even if you speak against the Son of Man, you can be forgiven.
But if you speak against the Holy Spirit, you can never be forgiven, either
in this life or in the life to come. (CEV)
4. Describe your view of
the unpardonable sin.
Philippians 4: 11I
am not complaining about having too little. I have learned to be satisfied
with whatever I have. 12I know what it is to be poor or to have
plenty, and I have lived under all kinds of conditions. I know what it
means to be full or to be hungry, to have too much or too little.
13Christ
gives me the strength to face anything.(CEV)
5. Why was Paul contented
and where did you learn this? Where did you learn this?
