Luke
1: 26One month later God sent the angel Gabriel to the town
of Nazareth in Galilee ... 28The angel greeted Mary and said,
"You are truly blessed! The Lord is with you." 29Mary was confused
by the angel's words and wondered what they meant. (CEV)
1. Where do you think Luke
got this story?
Luke 1: 30Then
the angel told Mary, "Don't be afraid! God is pleased with you, 31and
you will have a son. His name will be Jesus. 32He will be great
and will be called the Son of God Most High. The Lord God will make him
king, as his ancestor David was. 33He will rule the people of
Israel forever, and his kingdom will never end." 34Mary asked
the angel, "How can this happen? I am not married!" (CEV)
2. Where do we find revelations
telling us that God is pleased with us? How important is it?
Luke 1: 35The
angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come down to you, and God's power
will come over you. So your child will be called the holy Son of God....
37Nothing
is impossible for God!" 38Mary said, "I am the LORD'S servant!
Let it happen as you have said." (CEV)
3. How does Romans 8:38-39
relate to the impossible?
1 Peter 4: 10Each
of you has been blessed with one of God's many wonderful gifts to be used
in the service of others. So use your gift well. (CEV)
4. Name some things you
must do to use your gift well.
Matthew 16: 25If
you want to save your life, you will destroy it. But if you give up your
life for me, you will find it. 26What will you gain, if you
own the whole world but destroy yourself? (CEV)
5. What character traits
does this call for?
Matthew 9: 6But
I will show you that the Son of Man has the right to forgive sins here
on earth."So Jesus said to the man, "Get up! Pick up your mat
and go on home." 7The man got up and went home. (CEV)
6. Since Jesus has power
on earth to forgive sins, how does this take care of the future?
John 11: 43When
Jesus had finished praying, he shouted, "Lazarus, come out!" 44The
man who had been dead came out. (CEV)
7. Describe the visual demonstration
of power shown by the raising of the dead.
John 9: 25The
man replied, "I don't know if he is a sinner or not. All I know is that
I used to be blind, but now I can see!" (CEV)
8. How did the faith of
this healed blind man put the critical Pharisees to shame?
