2 Thessalonians 2:16God
our Father loves us. He is kind and has given us eternal comfort and a
wonderful hope.
Romans 5: 8But
God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though
we were sinful. Romans 8: 38I am sure that nothing can
separate us from God's love - not life or death, not angels or spirits,
not the present or the future, 39and not powers above or powers
below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God's love for us in
Christ Jesus our Lord! (CEV)
1. How can God's love for
us help us to do the right thing?
1 Timothy 6: 5....
They have wicked minds and have missed out on the truth. These people think
religion is supposed to make you rich. 6And religion does make
your life rich, by making you content with what you have. 7We
didn't bring anything into this world, and we won't take anything with
us when we leave. 8So we should be satisfied just to have food
and clothes. 9People who want to be rich fall into all sorts
of temptations and traps. They are caught by foolish and harmful desires
that drag them down and destroy them. 10The love of money causes
all kinds of trouble. Some people want money so much that they have given
up their faith and caused themselves a lot of pain. (CEV)
2. What is more painful,
knowing you have missed Heaven or being burned at the stake?
Ecclesiastes 5: 10If
you love money and wealth, you will never be satisfied with what you have.
This doesn't make sense either. 11The more you have, the more
everyone expects from you. Your money won't do you any good - others will
just spend it for you. 12If you have to work hard for a living,
you can rest well at night, even if you don't have much to eat. But if
you are rich, you can't even sleep. (CEV)
3. Explain why Christians
are rich even if they work hard and are paid little.
Psalms 119: 11I
treasure your word above all else; it keeps me from sinning against you....
140Your
word to me, your servant, is like pure gold; I treasure what you say.
Colossians 2: 2I
do it to encourage them. Then as their hearts are joined together in love,
they will be wonderfully blessed with complete understanding. And they
will truly know Christ. Not only is he the key to God's mystery, 3but
all wisdom and knowledge are hidden away in him. (CEV)
4. What are some reasons
we remain loyal to Jesus no matter what happens to us?
Matthew 6: 21Your
heart will always be where your treasure is. Proverbs 14: 14You
harvest what you plant, whether good or bad. (CEV)
5. Describe the link between
your treasures and your heart.
