Psalms 40: ⁶Sacrifices and offerings are not what please you; gifts and payment for sin are not what you demand. But you made me willing to listen and obey. ⁷And so, I said, "I am here to do what is written ⁸'I enjoy pleasing you. Your Law is in my heart.' " (CEV)  Matthew 12: ¹⁸"Here is my chosen servant! I love him, and he pleases me. I will give him my Spirit, and he will bring justice to the nations. (CEV)
Proverbs 21: ³Doing what is right and fair pleases the LORD more than an offering. 
1. Why burnt offerings? Why is being right and fair better than an offering?

Romans 12: ¹Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing. That's the most sensible way to serve God. ²Don't be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him. Romans 14: ¹⁷God's kingdom isn't about eating and drinking. It is about pleasing God, about living in peace, and about true happiness. All this comes from the Holy Spirit. ¹⁸If you serve Christ in this way, you will please God and be respected by people. (CEV)
2. How can we be a living sacrifice and realize God's goodness and purity?

2 Timothy 2: ²¹That's also how it is with people. The ones who stop doing evil and make themselves pure will become special. Their lives will be holy and pleasing to their Master, and they will be able to do all kinds of good deeds. 2 Timothy 4: ⁸So a crown will be given to me for pleasing the Lord. He judges fairly, and on the day of judgment he will give a crown to me and to everyone else who wants him to appear with power. 
3. Who wouldn't want the Lord to come in power? How can we be pure and special?

Hebrews 11: ²It was their faith that made our ancestors pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:¹⁶But don't forget to help others and to share your possessions with them. This too is like offering a sacrifice that pleases God.... ²¹I pray that God will make you ready to obey him and that you will always be eager to do right. May Jesus help you do what pleases God. To Jesus Christ be glory forever and ever! Amen. Acts 13: ²².... "David the son of Jesse is the kind of person who pleases me most! He does everything I want him to do." (CEV)
4. Describe sacrifices that enable us to do all that God wants us to do.

2 Peter 1: ³We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God's own power, when we learned that he had invited us to share in his wonderful goodness. 1 John 5: ¹⁴We are certain that God will hear our prayers when we ask for what pleases him. ¹⁵I pray that God will bless you with peace! (CEV)
5. Why do many follow false teachers? Why go on and live if we have all we need?
