John 15: 4Stay joined to me, and I will stay joined
to you. Just as a branch cannot produce fruit unless it stays joined to
the vine, you cannot produce fruit unless you stay joined to me. 5I
am the vine, and you are the branches. If you stay joined to me, and I
stay joined to you, then you will produce lots of fruit. But you cannot
do anything without me. 6If you don't stay joined to me, you
will be thrown away. You will be like dry branches that are gathered up
and burned in a fire.
7Stay joined to me and let my teachings
become part of you. Then you can pray for whatever you want, and your prayer
will be answered. (CEV)
1. In what way are prayers answered or not if we are not joined to
Christ and God?
Matthew 19: 6Then they are no longer two people, but
one. And no one should separate a couple that God has joined together."
Romans
12: 4A body is made up of many parts, and each of them has
its own use. 5That's how it is with us. There are many of us,
but we each are part of the body of Christ, as well as part of one another. (CEV)
2. How do we know our main function if the body is made up of many
and different parts?
1 Corinthians 6: 17But anyone who is joined to the
Lord is one in spirit with him.
2 Corinthians 13: 13I pray that the Lord Jesus Christ
will bless you and be kind to you! May God bless you with his love, and
may the Holy Spirit join all your hearts together. (CEV)
3. Describe some good ways to be joined together in our hearts.
Colossians 2: 2I .... encourage them. Then as their
hearts are joined together in love, they will be wonderfully blessed with
complete understanding. And they will truly know Christ. Not only is he
the key to God's mystery, 3but all wisdom and knowledge are
hidden away in him. (CEV)
4. What is God's mystery, and why is it hidden? To whom is the great
key revealed?
Colossians 3: 13Put up with each other, and forgive
anyone who does you wrong, just as Christ has forgiven you. 14Love
is more important than anything else. It is what ties everything completely
together. 15Each one of you is part of the body of Christ, and
you were chosen to live together in peace. So let the peace that comes
from Christ control your thoughts. And be grateful. (CEV)
5. Where is it that you can go to receive this kind of peace?
James 3: 14But if your heart is full of bitter jealousy
and selfishness, don't brag or lie to cover up the truth. 15That
kind of wisdom doesn't come from above. It is earthly and selfish and comes
from the devil himself. 16Whenever people are jealous or selfish,
they cause trouble and do all sorts of cruel things. 17But the
wisdom that comes from above leads us to be pure, friendly, gentle, sensible,
kind, helpful, genuine, and sincere. 18When peacemakers plant
seeds of peace, they will harvest justice. (CEV)
6. How does the above relate to the peacemakers, merciful, and pure
in spirit in the beatitudes?
