He lived to die, and He died to live:
Romans 3: 24But God treats us much better than we
deserve, and because of Christ Jesus, he freely accepts us and sets us
free from our sins. 25-26God sent Christ to be our sacrifice.
Christ offered his life's blood, so that by faith in him we could come
to God. And God did this to show that in the past he was right to be patient
and forgive sinners. This also shows that God is right when he accepts
people who have faith in Jesus. (CEV)
1. What is the best way to build up a strong faith?
For the joy to come He endured the cross:
Hebrews 12: 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author
and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the
cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne
of God. (NIV)
2. How do you keep your eyes fixed upon Jesus?
He died willingly, and was raised again:
John 10: 17The Father loves me, because I give up
my life, so that I may receive it back again.
18No one takes
my life from me. I give it up willingly! I have the power to give it up
and the power to receive it back again, just as my Father commanded me
to do. (CEV)
3. Why and how are we to be willing to give up old habits and try God's
way?
Our faith is not only for this life, we will also be raised:
1 Corinthians 15: 19If our hope in Christ is good
only for this life, we are worse off than anyone else. 20But
Christ has been raised to life! And he makes us certain that others will
also be raised to life. (CEV)
4. Explore: Will all be raised, saints and sinners?
Br willing to suffer like Christ:
1 Peter 4: 13Be glad for the chance to suffer as
Christ suffered. It will prepare you for even greater happiness when he
makes his glorious return. 14Count it a blessing when you suffer
for being a Christian. This shows that God's glorious Spirit is with you....
16Don't
be ashamed to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God that you belong
to him.
Philippians 3: 8Nothing is as wonderful as knowing
Christ Jesus my Lord. I have given up everything else and count it all
as garbage. All I want is Christ 9and to know that I belong
to him.... 10 I want to suffer and die as he did....
14I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of
being called to heaven. This is the prize that God offers because of what
Christ Jesus has done. 15All of us who are mature should think
in this same way. And if any of you think differently, God will make it
clear to you. 16But we must keep going in the direction that
we are now headed. (CEV)
5. Why is suffering for all, and how can we know that our suffering
is for Christ?
