Matthew 4: ⁴Jesus answered, "The Scriptures say: 'No one can live only on food. People need every word that God has spoken.' " (CEV)

Matthew 5: ⁶God blesses those people who want to obey him more than to eat or drink. They will be given what they want! (CEV)

Matthew 7: ²¹Not everyone who calls me their Lord will get into the kingdom of heaven. Only the ones who obey my Father in heaven will get in.... ²⁴Anyone who hears and obeys these teachings of mine is like a wise person who built a house on solid rock. (CEV)

Matthew 11: ²⁵At that moment Jesus said: My Father, Lord of heaven and earth, I am grateful that you hid all this from wise and educated people and showed it to ordinary people. ²⁶Yes, Father, that is what pleased you.²⁷My Father has given me everything, and he is the only one who knows the Son. Luke 10: ⁴⁰Martha was worried about all that had to be done. Finally, she went to Jesus and said, "Lord, doesn't it bother you that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her to come and help me!" ⁴¹The Lord answered, "Martha, Martha! You are worried and upset about so many things, ⁴²but only one thing is necessary. Luke 11: ²⁷While Jesus was still talking, a woman in the crowd spoke up, "The woman who gave birth to you and nursed you is blessed!"²⁸Jesus replied, "That's true, but the people who are really blessed are the ones who hear and obey God's message!" (CEV)

John 6: ²⁷Don't work for food that spoils. Work for food that gives eternal life. The Son of Man will give you this food, because God the Father has given him the right to do so." ²⁸"What exactly does God want us to do?" the people asked. ²⁹Jesus answered, "God wants you to have faith in the one he sent." John 6: ⁶³The Spirit is the one who gives life! Human strength can do nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are from that life-giving Spirit. (CEV)

John 7: ¹⁷If you really want to obey God, you will know if what I teach comes from God or from me. (CEV)

John 20: ²⁹Jesus said, "Thomas, do you have faith because you have seen me? The people who have faith in me without seeing me are the ones who are really blessed!" ³⁰Jesus worked many other miracles for his disciples, and not all of them are written in this book. ³¹But these are written so that you will put your faith in Jesus as the Messiah and the Son of God. If you have faith in him, you will have true life. (CEV)

Romans 1: ¹⁶I am proud of the good news! It is God's powerful way of saving all people who have faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles. ¹⁷The good news tells how God accepts everyone who has faith, but only those who have faith. (CEV)

1 Corinthians 2: ¹³Every word we speak was taught to us by God's Spirit, not by human wisdom. And this same Spirit helps us teach spiritual things to spiritual people. ¹⁴That's why only someone who has God's Spirit can understand spiritual blessings. Anyone who doesn't have God's Spirit thinks these blessings are foolish. ¹⁵People who are guided by the Spirit can make all kinds of judgments, but they cannot be judged by others. ¹⁶The Scriptures ask, "Has anyone ever known the thoughts of the Lord or given him advice?" But we understand what Christ is thinking. (CEV)

1 Corinthians 3: ¹My friends, you are acting like the people of this world. That's why I could not speak to you as spiritual people. You are like babies as far as your faith in Christ is concerned. ²So I had to treat you like babies and feed you milk. You could not take solid food, and you still cannot, ³because you are not yet spiritual. (CEV)

Colossians 2: ²I do it to encourage them. Then as their hearts are joined together in love, they will be wonderfully blessed with complete understanding. And they will truly know Christ. Not only is he the key to God's mystery, ³but all wisdom and knowledge are hidden away in him. ⁴I tell you these things to keep you from being fooled by fancy talk. (CEV)

Colossians 3: ¹⁶Let the message about Christ completely fill your lives, while you use all your wisdom to teach and instruct each other. (CEV)

Hebrews 4: ¹²What God has said isn't only alive and active! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts. ¹³Nothing is hidden from God! He sees through everything, and we will have to tell him the truth. (CEV)

Hebrews 5: ¹¹Much more could be said about this subject. But it is hard to explain, and all of you are slow to understand. ¹²By now you should have been teachers, but once again you need to be taught the simplest things about what God has said. You need milk instead of solid food. ¹³People who live on milk are like babies who don't really know what is right. ¹⁴Solid food is for mature people who have been trained to know right from wrong. (CEV)

Hebrews 6: ¹We must try to become mature and start thinking about more than just the basic things we were taught about Christ. We shouldn't need to keep talking about why we ought to turn from deeds that bring death and why we ought to have faith in God.... ³Let's grow up.... (CEV)

Heb 11: ¹Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see. ²It was their faith that made our ancestors pleasing to God. (CEV)

James 1: ²¹You must stop doing anything immoral or evil. Instead be humble and accept the message that is planted in you to save you. ²²Obey God's message! Don't fool yourselves by just listening to it. ²³If you hear the message and don't obey it, you are like people who stare at themselves in a mirror ²⁴and forget what they look like as soon as they leave. ²⁵But you must never stop looking at the perfect law that sets you free. God will bless you in everything you do, if you listen and obey, and don't just hear and forget. (CEV)

1 Peter 1: ²³Do this because God has given you new birth by his message that lives on forever. ²⁴The Scriptures say, "Humans wither like grass, and their glory fades like wild flowers. Grass dries up, and flowers fall to the ground. ²⁵But what the Lord has said will stand forever." Our good news to you is what the Lord has said. (CEV)

1 Peter 2:  ²Be like newborn babies who are thirsty for the pure spiritual milk that will help you grow and be saved. ³You have already found out how good the Lord really is (CEV)

1 John 2: ²⁴Keep thinking about the message you first heard, and you will always be one in your heart with the Son and with the Father.²⁵The Son has promised us eternal life. ²⁶I am writing to warn you about those people who are misleading you. ²⁷But Christ has blessed you with the Holy Spirit. Now the Spirit stays in you, and you don't need any teachers. The Spirit is truthful and teaches you everything. So stay one in your heart with Christ, just as the Spirit has taught you to do.  (CEV)

Revelation 22: ¹⁸Here is my warning for everyone who hears the prophecies in this book: If you add anything to them, God will make you suffer all the terrible troubles written in this book. ¹⁹If you take anything away from these prophecies, God will not let you have part in the life-giving tree and in the holy city described in this book. (CEV)

Deuteronomy 4: ¹Israel, listen to these laws and teachings! If you obey them, you will live.... He is the God your ancestors worshiped, ²and now he is your God. I am telling you everything he has commanded, so don't add anything or take anything away.  (CEV)

Deuteronomy 6: ⁵So love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, and strength. ⁶Memorize his laws ⁷and tell them to your children over and over again. Psalm 1: ¹God blesses those people who refuse evil advice and won't follow sinners or join in sneering at God. ²Instead, the Law of the LORD makes them happy, and they think about it day and night. ³They are like trees growing beside a stream, trees that produce fruit in season and always have leaves. Psalms 78: ¹My friends, I beg you to listen as I teach. ²I will give instruction and explain the mystery of what happened long ago. ³These are things we learned from our ancestors, ⁴and we will tell them to the next generation. Psalms 119: ⁹⁶Nothing is completely perfect, except your teachings. ⁹⁷I deeply love your Law! Proverbs 4: ²⁰My child, listen carefully to everything I say.²¹Don't forget a single word, but think about it all. ²²Knowing these teachings will mean true life and good health for you. ²³¹Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source of true life. (CEV)
